Hand Drill Embers Last A Lot Longer Than You Think

Published on Apr 22, 2017

My usual Horseweed Spindle and Pine Fire Board made the tiny little ember that we're experimenting with today. I've been noticing that Hand drill embers, removed from the fire board, can last up to a minute and still have enough mass and heat to ignite a tinder. So, it just made sense, that if you didn't remove it from the board, that it could last even longer. But, I wasn't expecting it to last this long and still be able to easily ignite a grass tinder bundle. While letting the ember lingered, I chose to knock out a cotton and ashes fire.
