I sat down with a guy (few years back), who put his Islamic faith up on a shelf when he arrived in Canada so many years ago, and took his faith down to dust off when other muslims were in his presence. This process didn't happen over night, mind you.

He came from a hard-working background and did quite well for himself when he eventually put down roots with his trade. In fact, he was always seen to hold down two types of jobs at a time.

His parents were the strict religious type, but somewhere along the way (may be when he incorporated himself within the Canadian culture) he no longer felt the 'need' to uphold the religious pretenses, that his parents so fervently instilled upon him.

As far as I knew, and from what he told me, he never imbibed, smoked, or ate pork, but was always seen associating himself with infidels (us poor slobs), worked over 12 hrs/day, and would help his neighbors out in any way that he could. Pretty much a 'model citizen' if you like.

The strangest conversation that we held, entailed his beliefs/non-beliefs in the Sharia Laws. Perhaps the influence of a Canuck lifestyle softened him? No, it wasn't that. He had formulated within his own mind, as to what common sense/common decency was, regardless of his upbringings.

What the weirdest part of our talk was, was the fact that he devulged the real political reasonings behind the Islamic faith.

Knowing what I already knew (from info in the below vid), I asked him why he bothered to 'tip his hand in poker'; as though he was somehow 'readying me' for something to come.

"It's their way", he said.

So I asked him, "But how do I know you're not lying to me now, as it is written in the Quran that you are allowed to (paraphrasing) "Deceive the infidels, so long as it helps Islam"?

"Well....that's up to you I guess. Just remember what I said." He brushed some food crumbs off the table, and gave me a pursed smile.

Basically, I took him on his word and didn't press the matter further.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What to believe....WHAT to believe....
Religion, Faith, Bureaucracy, Political agendas.
The left hand TRULY doesn't know about the right hand. Yeah right...
Or may be they do, and are suppressed by those who seek to gain governance over what should take precedence - the 'former' or 'latter' of their laws. Peace over War. War over Peace.
I've heard in my travels, that there's approximately 5% of the world's people 'pulling the strings. That may be so.
Who do 'I think' are running the show? Subject to my own personal interpretation: Those with the most money, power, and greed.
If we took those same people that are steering the sheep, and put them aside, I often wonder what the outcome of their environments would be then?
Would they retain the same values to some degrees (out of fear?) or would they eventually lessen up, and develop a common sense attitude, and be lenient towards those neighboring infidels....
...just like my FRIEND who I sat down to talk with in the beginning of my post.
And so- what has the Hawk really added to the endless continuum aside from another weak plaint in the void? Nothing, really. Of course there's no need for a god. Isn't the very word 'god' nothing more than a repository for the matrix of irrationality in which our peculiar existence is fixed? In a sense it is the description of the possibility of everything and nothing at once. L' ȇtre et le néant of it all. In a word- futility.
I could put it in Platonist form if you'd like. Thesis and Antitheses always yields Synthesis. But Synthesis because of the temporal dynamic of Dialectic always becomes, itself, a further Thesis. Therefore Synthesis (unity), as a thing in itself, must forever elude us. It's the very same problem that Sartre described in the insolubility of en soi/ pour soi (in itself/ For itself.)
Might it be the case that all argument is fatuous? Maybe that's the Hawk's point after all. Being and nothingness and sound and fury- signifying nothing at all. Reason takes us to the precipice of the Absurd but can never gain us entry.
Fuckit. Let's get high.
A couple had two little boys, ages 8 and 10, who were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew that, if any mischief occurred in their town, their sons were probably involved.
The boys' mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed, but asked to see them individually. So the mother sent her 8-year-old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the clergyman in the afternoon.
The clergyman, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly,
"Where is God?".
The boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there with his mouth hanging open, wide-eyed. So the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God!!?" Again the boy made no attempt to answer. So the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "WHERE IS GOD!?"
The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "What happened?"
The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time, dude. God is missing - and they think WE did it!"
The truth is, God is missing. Always has been and always will be.
God created the Earth (the universe?). God requires our obediance. God will judge us. If we are found to not be worthy we will spend eternity in suffering upon our deaths.
Fuck you God!
How could an eternity in Hell be any worse than the Hell you created for billions of poor souls who never had a chance to adhere to your ridiculous demands, your selfish and egotistical rantings or your bizarre edicts.
Generally speaking, in most of the following cases, religion is both the stated cause of the killing and the only substantive difference between the two opposing groups. Obviously, there would be many additional conflicts where religion is just one of several divisions.
For a long time, I had been wondering about how women were REALLY being treated in the middle east.
MSM hasn't been too kind in delivering the goods for ages.
We see/hear of those who come forward and testify that 'all is well', and that there are only a minute sect of women who get a bad rap. "It's ONLY the Extremists that are giving everyone else a bad name.
Yet then, there are those who have either escaped (with their lives) and/or secretly left their homeland and present their side of the story.
I'm willing to bet...there's a mixture of BOTH.
It is because of Sharia Law in that vicinity, and the seemingly cultural misogynies, that we probably WON'T see a lot of first-hand experiences anytime soon (or few and far between).
People say to me: "Well that's THEIR business, so why should it matter to you, leave them be." or..."It's a backwards nation, why bother trying to implement western ideals upon them? They're going to do what they want regardless." Or countless other jargons...
The thing is, 'their business' IS stepping onto our turfs; so to speak. Has been for quite some time now.
I want you to know something (if I already haven't said it before), is that I don't have a hatred of any kind towards a Muslim. Seriously, I don't. When I say what I do on the boards, it's basically for the fact that I fight for the underdogs. And these 'underdogs' are the women in their society. If my words somehow reach someone across this big world of ours, and that person(s) can help (not hinder) their society with what I need to say, then...good.
Back on topic:
The assimilation of said culture has been 'one way' for these people. It's NOT a two way street in THEIR LAND. We turn the other cheek in our countries, allow/tolerate/what-you-will because of our guvs, and this still isn't enough for these people - or rather the higher-ups that rule over these Islamic countries. There was 'some' progression at one point, but the one's in power at present, see fit to 'bring back the old ways'.
~"He who holds the reins of the horse can steer it as he chooses"~
FEAR, POWER, PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT. Tis the way of these backward nations. Cover up physically what you can't deal with. Beat those into submission. Torture- for false confessions. Suppress/Limit schooling to keep those in line. Blackmail mothers in order to not have their children taken away by their father. Instill FEAR, to retain control over one's physical/mental/religious actions.
This aint fearmongering on my part folks. Far fucking from it. This is what ACTUALLY goes on behind closed doors over in that part of the world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Take a look at these next few vids.

They aren't the 'be all to end all', but certainly DO speak for many women in the middle east.

I respectfully ask you to watch them before you just slap down any ol' comment.

I was sitting here thinking maybe I should get one of those exercise machines, you know, the ones that are great for hanging clothes on, and finally do something about this beer gut I'm getting.

Then it dawned on me, I've never seen a skinny Buddha. The gut on that guy always appears like he spent a lifetime raiding breweries rather than gaining enlightenment. Yet he was the enlightened one.

One thought led to another and I began to wonder if skinny people can even attain enlightenment. They're so caught up in their appearance that they never attain the nothingness of Nirvana or are destined to continue on the cycle of rebirth.

I know, I know, I'm mixing metaphors and such, but I still think I may have come across another step on the road to enlightenment.

Skinny people are riding the short yellow school bus of the soul, and those of us who are fat and happy should be pointing and laughing at them for it.

Just some strange passing thoughts on a lazy Saturday afternoon. I hope your day is going as weird.

Thoughts?

While the list isn't exhaustive by any means I think it is representative of the leading well known candidates for abject assholery, douchebaggery and outrageously reprehensible and stoopid belief.
