Alice Springs, Australia - 07-15-09

Submitter Details:

Around 6:00 PM, on Wednesday evening, 15, July, my girlfriend and I were riding on our motorbike out of Alice Springs, heading south.

We noticed this white shape, like a bright cloud, over in the westerly direction, toward the Pine Gap area. I joked and said "It must be visiting the Americans!!".

And as we watched about 15 minutes, we stopped and took these two photographs, with an 8 Megapixel camera & a zoom lens. When we got home we zoomed in again and these are the photos.

Can you tell us what it may have been ?

Ray & Carol

Note: "Pine Gap" is the commonly used name for a satellite tracking station at 23°47'56?S 133°44'13?E? / ?23.799°S 133.737°E? / -23.799; 133.737, some 18 kilometres southwest of the town of Alice Springs in the heart of Australia that is operated by Australia and the U.S. It consists of a large computer complex with eight radomes protecting antennas, and has over 800 employees. It is officially called the Joint Defence Space Research Facility.[/offsite:igvhqryp]

Im a skeptic, kinda.

Why is this not a case of photoshop?

Ill rephrase that, theres just as much proof there is other life as there isnt, if that makes sense...

So Im kinda undecided, but leaning to the skeptical side of pictures, ya know?

If it was a "craft" it looks like its about to crash, so there should be wreckage....unless its a Boeing, but thats another thread.

Any other sightings, or were these 2 people the only ones?

Re-entry of something.

Surely aliens can land w/o
bursting into flames. (lol)

I'll see what I can dig up.

[offsite:2jhknsft]Fortunately, it is the only member of its class
still in orbit and the majority of the fragments,
as of June 2009, have decayed.[/offsite:2jhknsft]

From Here (http://orbitaldebris.jsc.nasa.gov/newsletter/pdfs/ODQNv13i3.pdf)

Maybe a piece of that burning in ?

Closest re-entry I can find so far.

That site is fucking cool, too.

[offsite:l5zmms6m]On Tuesday, February 10, the American civilian communications satellite Iridium 33, launched in 1997, and the defunct Russian military communications satellite Kosmos-2251, launched in 1993, collided over Siberia. Five days after the collision, reports have surfaced that burning debris from the collision has been spotted over several U.S. cities from New Mexico to Kentucky.[/offsite:l5zmms6m]

[offsite:l5zmms6m]However, Dr. Marco Ciocca, a professor at Eastern Kentucky University told WKYT in Kentucky it would "be months" before any of the satellite wreckage enters the Earth's atmosphere. "The debris doesn't simply fall out of its orbit. It will either vaporize or stay in orbit for some time before falling into Earth's atmosphere."[/offsite:l5zmms6m]
