I have a proposal to add to the Koidal gene pool.

The best way to juice this joint up is the create a stickied 'guest posting unithread.' A place for guests and members to post on any subject they choose. By use of cut and paste from other threads anything posted in any koidville thread would become the subject of comment by anyone, member or not. We have thousands of guest views- let's hear what the think from an outsider perspective. And who knows? Many might even join up. That would be a way of increasing membership in a non-random manner. Let's have a conversation with the world beyond the koidborg..

Sounds good to me. Why not outreach to some news/political/conspiracy websites as well and trade links?

That's actually exactly what I had in mind. But only in a dedicated thread. I think it would be interesting to see how we appear to the 'outside.' I brought this up with the monkey a year or so ago and he thought the idea had some merit although he was against it at the time for reasons that I can't remember. I'd like to see his views on this. Seems like a good enough idea to me and I'm not sure why everyone's raining shit on it.

If it was a coding/security hassle than OK. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement something like that.

- Have it in a small part of the forum
- Try it out for a month, if it didn't work, can it.

It could be a lot of fun...

But if the poll says no... no problem.

Thats why many dont give a shit about it. On the many forums I have seen the only way it works is either Anon posting is allowed anywhere like Glop or like Above crap used too OR registered posters only.

On the forums that have guest forums they are rarely used.

I will say this, Guest Books DO WORK!

Guest forums? no.. Go to the dozens of various gamer,cooking, CT, political, and "other" forums. Some have guest forums and some don't Those that do have wasted time and energy coding them because lurkers are not inclined to use them. A lurker will Join and post or won't..

HOWEVER

Lots of folks will sign a guest book. I have noticed that folks will sign a guest book.

Why will folks sign guest books but not use guest forums? I have no fucking clue. But it is what I have observed.
